What can I say, I am a sucker for Sierra Nevada, and since I love Stouts, what a perfect combination Sierra Nevada Stout their description hits the "Stout" on the head "Bold and Full of flavor....

Excellent Stout I will have more of in the future..Sierra Nevada does it right with every beer I have tasted thus far

I am going to go with a 5 Beer rating on this wonderful beer,

have I had stout I like better? Yes, actually I would not even say "like" better but may have hit me a little more, but not by much, Go grab one!!!

The "Almost" Daily Beer and Bike Log April 9, 2015 Friendship Brewing Revisited

Well it is midweek (well Thursday So almost the end of the week) And I am traveling out to Friendship Brewery to Speak with Brian one of the owners and Brewers.

I have done posts before with Brian with Friendship Brewing Company More than just a name, and Three Brews From Friendship Brewing Company

I have made this part of a hopefully continuing series in my own job and brought my own camera to get a two for one for a possible Documentary on Craft brewing in the St Louis Area in the future. So high hopes to make a flick I would want to watch while also getting myself involved n the Brewing community here in the area. I met Brian once and have talked to him via the internet a few times. He is one of the nicest guys I have ever met and believes Craft brewing is about well "friendship" thus the name of his brewery. It is about passing along knowledge and collaborating helping those with a hand up and advice while taking the same from those ahead of you. Well I will update you all on how it went and share the shorter news story when it airs

Beers To Try Before you Die or the Beer Bucket 52 List 29 of 52 Rebel Rider IPA from Sam Adams

As I rounded up the Rebel Family of beers (Rebel IPA will be Reviewed soon)  from Sam Adams I tried the Rebel Rider Session IPA,  this is the lowest ABV and probably the lightest easiest drinking of the three. But the flavor is still awesome.  It has just enough bitterness for someone getting into IPAs but enough for someone who enjoys them also.

Now we already know the Rebel Rouser Double IPA was my favorite of the family so we know this one is not going higher than the 5 beer one shot rating I gave that one, so I am going with a 3 beer rating on this bad boy a great taste and light enough to enjoy a few

The "Almost" Daily Beer and Bike log April 8, 2015 What A Day, Whiskey, Foxtrot Tango.........At least Whiskey

Ever have one of those days that just seems to snowball? One bad thing after another? Yeah that was yesterday just a shit show. I am not going to get deep into all the crap that happened, just boring as far as this blog goes (real life shit no big deal) So I got home and relaxed with a Rumble…Well not an all out battle that escalated fast like Anchorman …..
Meme Version

Or video

Anyway.....Not that Rumble, but a Rumble From Great Divide.

Very good Oak tasting beer I will report on next week at some point. I also got some info together for our Brew day (that would be brew number 2 for me) this coming Saturday. Put some Oak chips into a bag and set them to soak with some Jim Beam Rye for a possible RyePA,

We are looking at splitting the initial 5 gallon Fermentation into 5 one gallon beers, with a base IPA as the original we have a few ideas but nothing is solid yet…More to come soon

Beers To Try Before you Die or the Beer Bucket 52 List 28 of 52 Fire Rock Pale Ale from Kona Brewing

So in trying different Pale Ales I have come to the conclusion although most taste great (meaning they have taste unlike some watered down beers out there) they are a lighter taste than my usual Stouts, Porters and now IPAs, but what I would categorize as a nice Ballpark or barbeque beer.
With that being said if the above is in your “ballpark” so to speak these may rate higher on your own personal rating system, for those who have followed this blog you know I enjoy the heavier beers. So As I grabbed a bottle of Fire Rock Pale Ale from Kona Brewing

Fire Rock was perfect for what I was doing. Making some chicken on the grill. I had finished a run and was making diner and figured this seemed like a good try so after tasting the beer, I was right nice smooth and refreshing Pale Ale. It had a nice citrus hop to it, but not as much as you would find in a summer style Ale and it had no aftertaste.

I would say I could give this one a solid 2 beer rating it was a good beer for the barbecue

Beers To Try Before you Die or the Beer Bucket 52 List 27 of 52 Lagunitas Sucks Brown Shugga Substitute Ale

Going back to my first brew weekend I tried a few new beers as we waited for the water to boil and the Mash to rest....

listed under their seasonal beers but also listed as a year round availability Lagunitas Sucks did not in fact suck!

It was a sweet mild Ale that I really enjoyed. As a matter of fact if it were not for the fact I had already consumed a few and had to drive within a short time frame of my glass of this brew I would have had more. A very tasty not very expensive beer.
I am going with a 4 beer salute to this one.

I have been impressed thus far with Lagunitas products and look forward to some more

Beers To Try Before you Die or the Beer Bucket 52 List 26 of 52 Samuel Adams Rebel Rouser Double IPA

So it is no secret I love Sam Adams (or Boston Beer Company) products and my true introduction to enjoying a good IPA was via Sam AdamsRebel IPA. This was the first IPA I liked. And now that I have extended my taste via other great IPAs like Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA, Dogfish Heads60 and 90 Minute IPAs and Rouges Brutal IPA (as well as others) I had to go back to were it all started, well sort of. I will review the Rebel IPA in another entry but I wanted to bring to light a wonderful tasting IPA from one of my favorite beer makers Sam Adams Rebel Rouser Double IPA.

Now this will give it a way a little as far as my future rating goes but this is fantastic a great mix of hoppy goodness with that summer feel you can enjoy.
I am going all in here to give this IPA a standing ovation and a 5 beer and a shot rating.

If you are a fan of IPA’s and that West coast style of IPA grab a six pack you will not be disappointed.............

The "Almost" Daily Beer and Bike Log April 6 2015 Brew Update

During this holiday weekend, Easter is about family and of course Jesus. So as far as Bike riding went, although it was great weather I did not get any riding in. My Oldest daughter had softball games all day Saturday, and Sunday was time spent with family.

But I do have some news as our beer went to secondary fermentation

it came out a little high on the gravity side from the initial fermentation at 1.038 but hopefully secondary helps with that.

Also got to try a few beers over the weekend. Excel’s East Side IPA, Sierra Nevada’s Stout, Union Jack IPA and Holy Moly Bourbon Aged beer fromCathedral Square Brewery Divine Beer. All were good some were great, but you will have to wait on those reviews.

Also chatted with a few people about taking the tops off some kegs that were acquired to try and make some brew kettles.

Those may actually get done soon. Overall a fun weekend, now if I can just get some riding in that would be great. Hopefully soon

Beers To Try Before you Die or the Beer Bucket 52 List 25 of 52 Titan IPA from Great Divide Brewing Co

Great Divide has a great variety of beers that I have tried from their Yeti Imperial IPA

to beers I have not yet like their Denver Pale Ale there are some tasty beers.

On this particular day I tried one I had not tried before the Titan IPA  from The Great Divide Brewing Company

Titan IPA is not too bitter and is balanced well, but if you like the hoppy taste it is still there. And it finished like a nice malty Ale would. I really enjoyed this beer and I have to go back and retry some others from Great Divide  that I have had, as well as a few I still have yet to try. So many Beers so little time…. Anyway I think this is a nice middle of the road beer and with that I give it a 3 beer rating,

Leaving room to go up on some others and maybe down. Either way an enjoyable ride.
