Although my years list has almost hit the 40 mark, I have had a few more beers in between, and a growing list of Honorable mentions, beers that were perhaps nothing special in my own taste but maybe you want to try them they could be your mug of beer (we all have different tastes and what is one man's "eh" is another man's "Shit this is great"
The first is Excel East Side IPA, not a bad IPA but nothing that hit me over the head as excellent. It says it is a West Coast style IPA so comparing it to beers like Sam Adams Rebel IPA or the originals like IPAs from Sierra Nevada it kind of gets lost in the shuffle, but as always a good effort. I am not here to trash beers but to celebrate them...
Next on the list and this is hard because everything else I have had from Lagunitas has been awesome, then I had Hop Stoopid, this one just did not hit the mark, maybe because I expected too much from every single beer I have had from them (and they have been good)
This one did came close to making the list I think just because I felt bad that everything else had from this company, but in the end I had to leave room for other beers, so it gets the tiny bump down to Honorable mention
As I was giving our newborn his own bottle, Daddy needed his also, so I grabbed a bottle of Sierra Nevada Summerfest Crisp Lager.
As with Hop Stoopid Above maybe it is because I expect so much from a them I was a little disappointed in the Lager maybe it was just because I have been on such an IPA kick that it came off as a weaker light Lager (still better than anything the big companies put out there) Maybe it was because I was sleep deprived from having our newborn home...Anyway It dropped to our Honorable Mention list
The next two beers come with their own set of Jokes, now I know Butte is not pronounced as Butt, but (haha) it still makes me laugh (yeah it doesn't take too much)
Loving their Inversion IPA and liking their Mirror Pond Pale Ale I thought this would be a very good beer, but Good was it. It grew on me a bit more as I drank but never got over the hill...Now pair this with Rod's Cream Ale and you have a name for a Beer induced porn flick.....Coming soon to an Adult Video store Rod's Cream Ale Takes on Black Butte... Okay I am done
So I was shopping for a Cream Ale to try as I wanted to possibly brew some of my own. I had some of Public House Brewing company's Stout a few days earlier and I saw their beer was on sale so not thinking at all I picked up a six pack of Rod's Cream Ale,
Okay Not sure if Rod is actually the Brewer at Public House, (after checking out the site he is, it is named after it's creator Rod Murry, Sorry Rod) this is a cruel joke for a name or they were just as unaware initially as I was. But after getting lambasted by my Buddy Jason on Facebook for posting the Beer of the evening I laughed I cried and honestly it was not bad but was nothing special either. Loved their Revelation Stout but the Cream Ale (Yes Rod's) was just not "Up" to par.
