This is a blog to chronicle my personal experiences into both Mountain Biking and Brewing Beer. Some days I may just share a beer I bought and really liked or perhaps hated. Some days I may not be the person riding and have a story about Mountain biking that only has to do with me because I was there. The main point is to chronicle my adventures into both subjects and some days bring them together. Dirt in My Beer is a place to post my experiences, good and bad and ugly along the way.

Why Seasonal Beers Are Special
It has been a while since I made a Blog entry so here we
go….Over the weekend (about two weeks ago) my fantastic wife brought home a six pack of Sam AdamsOctoberfest.
Any of you half a dozen people who
follow the blog know this is my Go To Beer, My 10 when comparing all other
beers. What makes it so special? Well of course the taste, it is a very smooth
beer, with a Carmel taste that tells you fall is almost here (or is here once
you have been drinking it into October) Generally I like most Octoberfest beers,
but Sam Adams is by far still my favorite. I think number two would be it is a
small window of availability during the year. From mid August (the earliest I
have found it) to maybe the first week of November.
One year I stocked up on
this beer. I was drinking it into June. Put it this way if I started this blog
at that time it may have slipped from my number one spot, simply because I had
it, I could drink it whenever I wanted. So I think the seasonal beers are
special because of that window. I learned a lesson that year, If you just wait
(and that does not mean you can’t stock up to get you into say December (although
the Winter Lager is excellent also, so give that some time in your year) It taste better, it becomes a more valuable
glass of beer.
So as I had that first sip of the year I was again rewarded
and reminded why Sam Adams Octoberfest is my go to beer. It had been I would
say a good 9-10 months since I finished off my last Octoberfest and for the
next 2-3 months I will enjoy every bottle or glass I drink.
